Installing Spanish & French Proofing Tools in Office XP

The following instructions will guide you through adding proofing tools to an existing installation of MicrosoftOfficeXP. Although the graphics are from an installation on Office XP Standard Edition, the installation for Office XP Professional is nearly identical.

  1. Insert the Microsoft Office XP installation disk into your computer. After you have entered your serial number and agreed to the licensing agreement, you will be presented with the Setup window.
  2. Select the "Add or Remove Features" option and click "Next".

  3. Expand the "Office Shared Features" list by clicking on the plus sign next to "Office Shared Features".

  4. Scroll down and expand the "Proofing Tools" list in the same manner as before.

  5. Click on the hard drive icon with the down arrow and select the "Run all from My Computer" option. The window should now appear as below. Notice that the small numeral "1" has been removed from the non-English languages and the backgrounds of the hard drives are now white. When this step is complete, select "Next".

  6. Follow the remaining steps in the Office installation wizard and the installation of Microsoft Office XP proofing tools will be complete.
