A.nnotate

Annotate documents and images online

A.nnotate is an online annotation, collaboration and indexing system for documents and images. Instead of emailing different versions of a document back and forth you can now all comment on a single read-only copy online. The document is displayed in high quality with fonts and layout just like the printed version. It is easy to use and runs in all common web browsers, with no software or plugins to install.

Audacity

The Free, Cross-Platform Sound Editor

Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds in Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The program is quite powerful and yet very simple to use. It is used extensively in language classes as files can be created in mp3 format and uploaded directly into BlackBoard. EGARC provides instructions for using Audacity. Downloading the LAME mp3 Encoder is required to export Audacity recordings as MP3s.

Foreign Language Support

EGARC provides detailed instructions for installing foreign language keyboards on both Windows and Mac platforms. We have created homophonic keyboards for Hebrew, Russian and Ukrainian that are free to download. EGARC also has instructions for installing Spanish or French proofing tools in various Microsoft Office versions.

Grab and save images, videos, and text

Grab pieces of enjoyable content from any page, save them online, and share without having to copy/paste using a simple bookmarklet. For bloggers and media sites, Snipd's widget enables readership to Snip images, videos, or text enjoyed most within articles. Snipd content becomes a destination for users, rather than a list of bookmarks because users are able to enjoy what they saved from within pages on the net.

Twiddla is a real-time online collaboration tool that is free and easy to use. You can mark up its whiteboard and annotate pictures or documents that you have uploaded. Twiddla incorporates text and voice chat which allows real-time interaction with people from all over the world.

A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate pages and leave comments in 5 ways - using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam).
