Faculty Projects

EGARC provides instructors with access to and training in new instructional technologies. We also provide technical support for grant and research projects focusing on languages, cultures and the use of technology in the humanities classroom. This support can range from the use of portable equipment for collecting materials, to scripting and graphic design assistance for web-based projects, to basic audio and video editing, to consultation on best practices. Faculty interested in pursuing such projects are encouraged to meet with the Director early in the planning process to find out what resources are available both at EGARC and across campus.

Acceso (under construction)

A media-rich curriculum for students in intermediate Spanish that answers the MLA's call for the development of "transcultural and translingual competence" and serves as a platform for collaboration among instructors learning about technology.

Conexiones

Project Conexiones is a web-based cultural exchange between students at the University of Kansas and the University of Costa Rica based upon the model established by the MIT Cultura project.

Web supplement to William Comer's glossed edition of Viktoria Tokareva's 1964 story. Includes an audio reading of the story as well as extensive teaching materials for use in an intermediate Russian course.

KU Haitian Creole Resources

Complete texts and audio supplements for books created by Bryant Freeman, Director of the Institute of Haitian Studies at the University of Kansas.

Hebrew Placement Exam

An online exam required for students new to KU who wish to continue their study of Hebrew.

Italy and the Italians I Gallery

This web-based photo gallery is used in Professor Jan Kozma's ITAL335 course and contains images of Italian geography, history, architecture and culture. Login access is reserved for students enrolled in ITAL335.

Japanese Placement Exam

An online exam with listening comprehension, reading comprehension and grammar components. Required for students new to KU who wish to continue their study of Japanese.

Kansas Religion Oral History Project

Web archive of oral histories collected by KU students from a wide range of Kansas religious groups, including Catholics, Methodists, Swedenborgians, Amish, Old Order Brethren, Quakers, Spiritualists, Christian Scientists and many others.

Central repository of information about foreign language study at the University of Kansas, including links to information on the wide variety of languages that are offered.

Linguistics Survey Tool

Web application to develop, publish and collect responses to online Linguistics surveys in a multitude of foreign languages.

Website component of a decade-long multinational scholarly project that will fundamentally transform understanding of Russia's "continuum of crisis" in the early twentieth century.
