Student Checkout and Fines Policies

KU ID

Students must present a valid KU ID Card to check out any materials from our collection. All checkouts must be made in 4070 Wescoe.

Students may check out only one item at a time, with the exception of headphones and audio splitters checked out to watch videos within the Center. Videos and textbooks on normal status may be taken home and are due back by closing the following day; videos and textbooks checked out on Friday may be kept over the weekend and returned before closing on Monday.  All other items, including those on special status (including reserved and non-lab videos) may not be taken from the Center and are due back two hours from the time of checkout.

NPY HOLDS
When a patron reaches the maximum fine amount for an item, (s)he will receive one final notice to return the item within one week to avoid further charges.  If the item is not returned during that period, the patron will be placed on NPY hold and charged replacement cost for the item plus a processing fee of $22. If the patron returns the item before the end of the semester, the fine will be reduced to the maximum fine for the item plus $22 for processing.

At the end of the semester, all patrons with unpaid fines will be placed on NPY hold and a $2 processing fee will be added to their account.

Once a student has been placed on NPY hold (s)he must pay the fine at the Bursar's Office in 20 Caruth-O'Leary or online at http://www.bursar.ku.edu. There is often a slight delay in our receiving notice of fines paid to the Bursar, so please bring a receipt if you wish to check items out immediately after paying a fine.
